Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) Book Drive

Sisters in Crime Desert Sleuth Chapter has partnered with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) with the goal of providing books and magazines for inmates. On March 15, 2017 DS members are encouraged to bring used books and magazines to our monthly meeting. A donation bin will be available at Grimaldi’s Pizzeria.

Please note, MCSO respectfully requests no book donations that include the following genres and/or scenes:
• Graphic rape or sex (i.e.. 50 Shades of Gray)
• True crime
• True mafia stories
• True stories about jail or prison (i.e. Orange is the New Black)
MCSO personnel review and screen all donations. Unsuitable books are given to the Friends of the Phoenix Library who, in turn, resells them on their website. Half of the profits are then returned to MCSO’s MASH unit to benefit abused animals.

Grab those books and magazines that need new homes from your family, friends, and book clubs! Based on your generosity, Desert Sleuths might turn this donation into an annual event.
